Every minute of the hour presents you with a different craft beer featuring brewers such a Stone, Coronado, Southern Tier, Maui, Dieu du Ciel, HItachino, Hakusekikan, Colonsay, Brewdog, Little Creatures, Epic, and more. Good beers. There’s no crap in this app.

Set the time for Beer O’Clock and the app will show you a countdown telling you how many beerless seconds you have before Beer O’Clock. When the time comes, the app with flash “Beer O’Clock!” and (optionally) notify you with the sound of a beer opening and vibrate. What better way could there be to wait for beer? What better use could there be for your iPhone than to help you work up a thirst? Technology was made for this.

This app disables sleep when running – otherwise you wouldn’t get to see all those lovely beers. It’s recommended you keep your phone plugged in so that battery doesn’t run down – though if you’re in the habit of sending silly mails when you get a bit drunk, letting your battery run down might not be a bad thing. You also need to leave the app running for the alarm to work (this is an iPhone/iPod limitation of all non-Apple clock apps – you can’t run apps in the background).

There are 60 different beers featured in this app – one for every minute – all beers that I’ve had the pleasure of in 2009. I fully intend to spend proceeds from this app buying more beer to photograph though ultimately there are only 365 days in the year and aiming for a different beer every minute of the day might kill me. But, you know, there are worse ways to go. I also only have access to beer which is available in Japan or I grab when I travel. Of course, if there’s a beer you’d really like to see here, I’m more than willing to receive beer in the mail
